Finding Inspiration in Books

Hello, dear subscribers! 😊

I’m Woomi, the founder of AURORA PIN.

Today in Korea, we had a rare heavy snowfall, and the wind is blowing strongly outside. Since I live in a completely different time zone from the U.S., I often look at the moon on my way home and think, "It must be daytime in America now."

Last year, I went through a bit of a slump. To overcome it, I started focusing on two things: reading and exercise. I’ve always enjoyed reading, but as I got busier with work, I neglected it for a while.

My personal Instagram account mainly features posts about books.
Using social media in this way also serves as a motivation for me to read consistently.

Joining a book club rekindled my love for books, and now I make an effort to read whenever I can—whether it’s for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour. Reading not only helps with personal growth but also fosters a positive mindset.

A Book That Left a Lasting Impression

Among the many books I’ve read recently, one that truly stood out is The Named Society by Song Gil-young, a well-known digital humanities scholar in Korea.

One of the key insights from this book is the belief that:

"A person’s reading list reveals more about them than anything else."

The book discusses how society is shifting from a traditional system—where experienced individuals mentor the next generation—to a structure where people independently invest in their learning and growth. It also highlights the formation of identity-based communities centered around shared interests:

"People passionate about dance may come together to form an alternative family-like community. Likewise, equality and kindness will become even more important in the future."

In today's digital world, our online presence shapes our reputation:

"Who I am on search engines, and the content I consistently create, becomes my digital footprint and shared identity."

For instance, if you regularly post about running with your crew on Instagram or track your routes in detail on a blog, that content becomes your own media and identity.

Similarly, in the world of fashion and accessories, our choices—like a hair clip or hair barrette—reflect our personal style. Just as we curate a collection of elegant accessories, the content we put out into the world shapes our online identity.

The Power of Small, Consistent Actions

This book made me reflect on what I have consistently done over time. What about you? What have you continued doing that defines who you are? If you haven't identified one yet, think about what messages you've shared with the world.

"If you have no personal archive of achievements, take a look at your Instagram timeline or your list of contacts. The people you've interacted with define who you are."

In an age where visibility and authenticity matter, documenting our journey is essential. But this isn't about creating a perfectly staged photo—it's about showing genuine consistency:

"Instead of forcing an extreme diet for a body profile photo, posting #Today’sWorkout every day becomes a more meaningful record. The accumulation of these posts reflects commitment and growth."

This idea applies to all aspects of life, whether it’s self-improvement, business, or even curating a beautiful collection of hair accessories. Small, steady efforts lead to big transformations.

"My story is built upon the connections I've made. My digital footprint is my identity. The time and passion I’ve dedicated define who I am."

This perspective truly resonated with me. It’s a reminder that our daily efforts—whether in business, personal growth.

I hope this inspires you to reflect on your own journey. I’ll be sharing more book recommendations in the future!

Wishing you a wonderful and warm week, even in the midst of winter.

Best regards,
Woomi
